Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the special meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br />was called to order by Mayor Hughson at 3:01 p.m. Monday, August 23, <br />2021.This meeting was held in-person and online. <br />II. Roll Call <br />Mayor Pro Tem Derrick arrived shortly after roll call. <br />Present: 6 - Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Derrick, Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Maxfield <br />Baker, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Council Member Alyssa Garza and Council <br />Member Mark Gleason <br />Absent: 1 - Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Shane Scott <br />1. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-160R, approving an amended allocation of American <br />Rescue Plan Funds received by the City of San Marcos on June 1, 2021 under the American <br />Rescue Plan, and declaring an effective date. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Baker, seconded by Council Member <br />Gleason, to approve Resolution 2021-160R. The motion carried by the <br />following vote: <br />For: 5 - Mayor Hughson, Council Member Baker, Council Member Gonzales, Council <br />Member Garza and Council Member Gleason <br />Against: 0 <br />Absent: 2 - Mayor Pro Tem Derrick and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scott <br />2. Consider approval of Resolution 2021-161 R, approving a contract to provide funding to <br />Christus Santa Rosa Hospital -San Marcos in the sum of $500,000 from American Rescue <br />Plan Funds for the purpose of retaining existing hospital staff and hiring additional hospital staff, <br />including nurses, in order to provide care for patients hospitalized for treatment of Covid-19 <br />during the current surge in cases in San Marcos and within Hays County; and declaring an <br />effective date. <br />A motion was made by Council Member Gleason, seconded by Mayor Pro <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
