630 East Hopkins <br />s Memos City of San Marcos <br />San Marcos, TX 78666 <br />Meeting Minutes <br />City Council <br />Tuesday, September 21, 2021 6:00 PM City Council Chambers <br />This meeting was held using conferencing software due to COVID-19 rules. <br />I. Call To Order <br />With a quorum present, the regular meeting of the San Marcos City Council <br />was called to order by Mayor Hughson at 6:02 p.m. Tuesday, September 21, <br />2021. The meeting was held in-person and online <br />II. Roll Call <br />Present: 7- Mayor Pro Tem Melissa Derrick, Mayor Jane Hughson, Council Member Maxfield <br />Baker, Council Member Saul Gonzales, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Shane Scott, <br />Council Member Alyssa Garza and Council Member Mark Gleason <br />III. Invocation <br />Rev. John Molina from Primera Iglesia Bautista provided this evening's <br />invocation in Spanish and English. <br />IV. Pledges of Allegiance - United States and Texas <br />Mayor Hughson led the assembly in the Pledges of Allegiance. <br />Mayor Hughson made an announcement regarding an event that held this <br />weekend with wonderful results! <br />She recognized our local shelter staff, the news media, community supporters <br />including the volunteers such as animal rescue groups, fosters, and others, for <br />their efforts and congratulate all of them on their success at last Saturday's <br />Clear the Shelters event. She appreciates those that adopted and gave a pet a <br />second chance. It's important for all of us to remember that the best way to <br />free up kennel space for lost and homeless pets is to adopt. <br />During Clear the Shelters event a total of 61 pets found their fur -ever homes; <br />34 cats and kittens, 24 dogs and puppies including pre -adoptions, 2 guinea <br />pigs, and 1 rabbit. <br />City of San Marcos Page 1 <br />
