RECOMMENDATION RESOLUTION <br />anN renxeo <br />Animal Shelter Advisory Committee <br />Recommendation Number: (2021-01RR) —ANI <br />Revision to Bylaws for AN l <br />WHEREAS, City Council previously directed staff to develop an Implementation Plan to achieve <br />and sustain a 90% or greater live outcome rate at the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter; and <br />WHEREAS, the Committee desires to have a more active role in guiding the Shelter in its <br />monumental shift towards a modern life-saving model; and <br />WHEREAS, the existing Bylaws (San Marcos Code of Ordinances, Division 18, Section 2.367) limit' <br />the Committee's involvement, the Committee proposes that its powers and duties reflect that <br />their role is to review and discuss the following: <br />a) matters involving compliance with state laws that regulate animal shelters, including <br />Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 823; <br />b) animal welfare policies; <br />c) budget priorities to support goals for the shelter and community; <br />d) proactive, creative approaches to engage and facilitate communication within the <br />animal welfare community; and <br />e) capitalimprovements and maintenance needs for the facility. <br />The Committee may make recommendations to the San Marcos City Council regarding the San <br />Marcos Regional Animal Shelter as the Committee deems appropriate and necessary. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Animal Shelter Advisory Committee encourages <br />the San Marcos City Council to approve this resolution to allow the Committee to have a more <br />active role in supporting the Animal Shelter and its leadership team. <br />Date of Approval: �?
