711r,Ci'Yrri.SAN MARCORECOMMENDATION RESOLUTION Animal Shelter Advisory Committee Recommendation Number: 2021--o1RR — AN I Revision to Bylaws for AN I WHEREAS, City Council previously directed staff to develop an Implementation Plan to achieve and sustain a 90% or greater live outcome rate at the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter; and WHEREAS, the Committee desires to have a more active role in guiding the Shelter in its monumental shift towards a..modern life-saving model; and WHEREAS, the existing Bylaws (San Marcos Code of Ord in a nces,..Division.18, Section 2.36.7) limit` the Committee's involvement, the Comrmittee proposes that its powers and duties reflect that their role is to review and discuss the following: a) matters involving compliance with state laves that regulate animal shelters, including Texas Health and Safety Code Chapter 823; b) animal welfare policies; q} budget priorities to support goals for the shelter and community; d) proactive, creative approaches to engage and facilitate Communication within the animal welfare community; and e) capital improvements and m..ain.tenance needs for the facility. The Committee may maNte recommendations to the San Marcos City Council regarding the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter as the Committee deems appropriate and necessary, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the.Animal Shelter Advisory Committee encourages the San Marcos City Council to approve this resolution to allow the Committee to have a more active role in supporting the- Animal Shelter and its leadership team.
