23 <br />RECOMMENDATIONS <br />Overview <br />As the two town meetings produced different sets of recommendations, we have made <br />an effort to combine both sets of results in order to present a cohesive picture of the <br />community’s desires, with the end result being a list of actionable items. <br />After reviewing both sets of data, we have generated the following list of seven focus <br />areas, which include all of the primary areas of concern and/or action. These seven <br />focus areas cover all recommendations of both sources in a comprehensive manner. <br />Focus Areas <br />Focus 1: Spaces <br />The creation, development, and maintenance of new and existing spaces for arts and <br />cultural programming.This includes five subcategories: <br />Collaborative Arts and Cultural Centers <br />Performing Arts Spaces <br />Public Arts Spaces <br />Gallery Spaces andMuseums <br />Available Spaces <br />Focus 2: Accessibility <br />The improvement of the accessibility of arts and cultural programming for allcommunity <br />members. <br />Focus 3: Arts Education <br />Providing and maintaining opportunities and programming. <br />Focus 4: Funding <br />Providing and generating funding for the development and continuation of arts and <br />cultural programming. <br />Focus 5: City Involvement <br />Establishing the role of the city in two areas: <br />Development, Facilitation, and Promotion of the Arts <br />Staffing <br />Focus 6: Promotion and Advocacy <br />Promoting and advocating of and for arts and cultural programming, to include: <br />Promote community awareness of programming <br />Promote community support of the arts <br />Distinguish San Marcos as an arts and culture destination <br />Focus 7: Events <br />The development and continuation of new and current events. <br /> <br />
