PART 1: REVIEWAND RECOMMENDATION OF EXISTING PLANS <br />The following recommendations were discussed and/orapprovedin one or more of the <br />plans listed above. The following survey is asking you to review these recommendations. <br />Please evaluate each recommendation using the following scale, entering your <br />response in the box next to each listed item. Evaluations will be compiled to <br />determine recommendation priorities to be integrated into the Arts Master Plan. <br />5 = Highly Recommend <br />4 = Recommend <br />3= No Opinion <br />2 = Disapprove <br />1 = Highly Disapprove <br />A.Facilities <br />Build a San Marcos Arts Center dedicated to cultural programming. This <br />center could act as an anchor for cultural programming throughout the City. <br />Develop foursmaller recreational/activity centers at north, south, east, west <br />locales in San Marcos, which will provide arts programming. <br />The Old Baptist Church on MLK Street should be restored and utilized as a <br />community venue. <br />The performing arts should havea dedicated performing arts facility. <br />Develop a plaza and park in commemoration of St. Mark, complete with a <br />statue and park design competition open to Texas artists. <br />B. Citizen Involvement and Promotion of the Arts <br />Develop a cohesive cultural agenda and arts calendar. <br />Develop a map showing artist studio locations that aid in the development of a <br />“Artist’s Studio Tour.” <br />Provide live and visual art offerings along the river and on the Square. <br />Develop a San Marcos historical docudrama to be performed on a regular basis <br />in an outdoor theater venue. <br />Have a well-supported K-12 art program in public schools. <br />Establish an education program for culturalresources at all levels. <br />Texas State should develop a venue in the Central Business District accessible <br />to visitors that displays pieces from the Southwest Writers Collection and <br />artwork from Texas State. <br />Parks and Recreation Department <br />Grant Harris, Jr., Building401 E, Hopkins San Marcos, TX 78666 \[512\] 393-8400 <br /> <br />
