PART 2: CURRENT STAKEHOLDER NEEDS AND RECOMMENDATIONS <br />The following general arts needs and recommendations were put forth by <br />community stakeholders.These stakeholders included members of the Arts <br />Commission, San Marcos Art League, San Marcos Performing Arts Association, <br />Downtown Association, Main Street, Arts Educators, etc. This evaluationwill prioritize <br />these items for inclusion into the Arts Master Plan. Please evaluate each <br />recommendation using the following scale, entering your response in the box next to <br />each listed item. Evaluations will be compiled to determine recommendation <br />priorities to be integrated into the Arts Master Plan. <br />5 = Highly Recommend <br />4 = Recommend <br />3= No Opinion <br />2 = Disapprove <br />1 = Highly Disapprove <br />FACILITIES <br />A.San Marcos Arts Center <br />Develop a downtown art center in a vacant (or vacating) building such as the <br />Justice Center transforming it into artist studioand gallery space and createa <br />downtown arts incubator. <br />Createa 100-person minimum community performing arts theater that can <br />serve as a home to the community theater, the community chorus, the <br />community orchestra and multi-cultural performing arts. <br />Createan art center that provides after-school programs, amuseum, <br />gallery/performance space,andart classes (similar to the Carver in Austin). <br />Eye of the Dog Art Center,on the outskirts of San Marcos,now hosts a <br />number of artist studios, a galleryand occasional performances.
