Hopkins San Marcos, TX 78666 RE: Recommendation Letter IFB 223-005 Briarwood Waterline Improvements Project Dear Mr. Garcia: A total of two (2) bids were received for the Briarwood Waterline Improvements project on December S, 2022. A copy of the bid tabulation and bid item breakdown is enclosed in Attachment A. The apparent low bidder for the above referenced project is Cedar Hills Construction LLC with a base bid amount of $1,218,204.80, an additive alternate 1 bid arnount of $82,606.80, and an additive alternate 2 bid amount of $128,176.20. The contractor only provided past projects dating back to 2021 since that is around the time this contractor branched off from another experienced contractor as a separate standalone company. Although Cedar Hills Construction is a newer company, the owner appears to have the knowledge and experience for work related to water main and water service installation from past projects as a lead project manager. Their references provided positive feedback, and all stated they would recommend Cedar Hills Construction for future projects. Based on their Statement of Qualifications and the references checked, Cedar Hills Construction LLC appears to be qualified and capable of performing the work for this project. Based on this information, and Purchasing Manager's assessment of responsiveness of the Bidder, BGE recommends that the City of San Marcos award the construction contract for this project to Cedar Hills Construction LLC for a total bid amount of $1,218,204.80.
