<br />106 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Regular Meeting March 11, 1991 Page 4 <br /> <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS, AUTHORIZING THE OPENING OF ACCOUNTS WITH PAINE WEBBER <br />INCORPORATED FOR THE PURCHASE AND SALE OF SECURITIES OF THE <br />UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT; AUTHORIZING CERTAIN CITY OFFICIALS TO <br />ACT AS AGENTS OF THE CITY IN DEALING WITH PAINE WEBBER <br />INCORPORATED; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hart moved for adoption of the Resolution and Mr. Moore seconded <br />the motion. The City has been advised by the local Paine Webber <br />Office we can deal directly with their office or with the Houston <br />Office regarding these accounts. The Council voted unanimously for <br />adoption of the Resolution. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Manager's Report. (1) Mr. Gilley <br />advised the Council Belinda Sandoval is the Employee of the Month. <br />(2) Mr. Gilley advised the Council the Parks and Recreation Board <br />had considered Mr. Pairett's request for Earth Day activities and <br />has approved the use of the parkland across from City Hall for this <br />purpose with no alcoholic beverages being permitted. (3) Mr. <br />Gilley stated the city in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce <br />and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce sponsored a successful two-day <br />customer service training program, which was outstanding. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Attorney's Report. Mr. Taylor had <br />no report at this meeting. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced the City Council's Report. Mayor Morris <br />stated she had just returned from attending the National League of <br />cities Conference held in Washington, D.C. and had attended many <br />worthwhile urban sessions. <br /> <br />Mayor Morris introduced an Executive Session pursuant to Article <br />6252-17, section 2(e), V.A.C.S., to discuss pending litigation (GBRA <br />vs. City of Lytle, Et AI; Sharp vs. civil Service Commission; Deal <br />vs. civil Service commission), contemplated litigation and matters <br />where the duty of the City Attorney to the City pursuant to the Code <br />of Professional Responsibility of the state Bar of Texas clearly <br />conflicts with Article 6252-17. Mr. Plummer moved to adjourn into <br />Executive Session at 8:59 p.m. and Mr. Moore seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Plummer moved the Council reconvene at 10:13 p.m. and Mr. Moore <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 10:14 p.m. on motion made by Mr. Plummer <br />and seconded by Mr. Moore. <br /> <br />M.~ <br />ß'-'i f, Jn~ <br /> <br />Billy G.
