City of San Marcos
Planning l* Development Services
• (512) 393 -
(512) 396 -9190 9190
Fax
To: Andy Quittner, Assistant City Attorney, and Sherry Mashburn, City Clerk
From: Andy Alarc6n Al
Date: March 13, 2008
Re: Department of Justice Requirement for the COSM Spring Lake Annexation
This memo addresses the voting rights compliance issues needed for the
Department of Justice. The City of San Marcos is pursuing the annexation of 250.70
acres more or less. The proposed annexation area is located north and adjacent to
the city limits and generally fronts Lime Kiln Road on the east. The area is
immediately north of the Spring Lake Hills Subdivision.
Existing Development
• The land within the annexation area is undeveloped.
Existing Population
There are no residents in the annexation area.
Future Development
The property is owned by the City of San Marcos. No plans to develop the site at this
time.
Future Population
No future population on this site is anticipated.
The following tables show the current and build -out population total, and current and
build -out voting age population. The racial composition for the proposed annexation
is assumed to reflect the City's 2000 census composition. Based on this analysis
negative impacts to racial or language minority groups are not anticipated.
