SECTION 6: DROUGHT <br />forecast area has been allocated to each county impacted by the event. Historical drought data <br />is provided on a county -wide basis per the NCEI Storm Events database. <br />Table 6-5 lists historical events that have occurred in Hays County as reported in the National <br />Centers for Environmental Information Storm Events Database (NCEI). There are a total of 52 <br />reported historical drought events, with 10 unique drought periods that have impacted Hays <br />County between January 1996 and July 2023. Significant events are described below. Historical <br />drought events reported in the NCEI database for Hays County and the City of San Marcos, over <br />the 27.5 year reporting period has resulted in negligible property and crop damages. <br />Table 6-5.
