By integrating Medicated Assistant Treatment (MAT), <br /> prevention education, and harm reduction approaches, the initiative seeks to leverage evidence- <br /> based practices to mitigate the impacts of opioid misuse. The core objective is to foster a healthier, <br /> safer community through targeted interventions and educational programs. <br /> Beneficiaries <br /> The primary beneficiaries of this program will be members of the San Marcos community, <br /> encompassing individuals directly or indirectly affected by opioid misuse or addiction. <br /> Activities <br /> 1. Access to Medicated Assisted Treatment (MAT): Facilitate opportunities for uninsured adults <br /> or those without MAT coverage in San Marcos to receive necessary treatment. <br /> 2. Healthcare Provider Training: Educate local healthcare providers on safe and best practices for <br /> opioid prescribing to ensure community-wide health safety standards. <br /> 3. Naloxone Training Partnership: Collaborate with Hays County Health Department or other <br /> entities to provide Naloxone training and distribute Narcan at various community and business <br /> events. <br /> 4. Fentanyl Education Initiative: Conduct educational sessions on fentanyl safety in schools, <br /> though educational presentations to San Marcos CISD students grades 6th-12th,parents, teachers, <br /> religious centers, businesses, and government entities throughout San Marcos. <br /> 5. Awareness Collaboration with Texas State University: Partner to organize events highlighting <br /> the risks of Fentanyl overdoses, including Narcan distribution to participants. <br /> 6. Opioid Misuse Prevention Media Campaigns: Launch media campaigns to educate and prevent <br /> opioid misuse within the community. <br />
