RESOLUTION 2008 -50 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY -FEMA ("U.S. DHS-FEMA") FOR AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT; APPROVING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS FROM THE GENERAL FUND CONTINGENCY ACCOUNT AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS APPLICATION AND ALL CONTRACTS WITH THE U.S. DHS-FEMA AND OTHER PARTIES AS NECESSARY FOR THE PURCHASE OF FIRE DEPARTMENT EQUIPMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. Grant funding is available from the U.S. DHS-FEMA through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to provide financial assistance for the purchase fire department equipment. 2. The City wishes to request grant funding from the U.S. DHS-FEMA for this purchase. 3. The total project cost is estimated to be in an amount not to exceed $110,000.00, and the City understands that it will be responsible for 20% of the total project costs currently estimated to be in an amount not to exceed $22,000.00. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. Submission of an application to the U.S. DHS-FEMA for funding through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program for the purchase of fire department equipment is approved. PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 20% (in an amount not to exceed $22,000.00) of the total proj ect costs from the General Fund Contingency Account is approved. PART 3. The Interim City Manager, Collette Jamison, is authorized to execute on behalf of the City, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of the City Council all contracts with the U.S. DHS -FEMA, and such other parties as are necessary and appropriate for the purchase of fire department equipment. PART 4. This Resolution shall be in full force and effect immediately from and
