4. Reconvene and Consider Action on Item Discussed During Executive Session. <br />The San Marcos City Council reconvened into regular session at 6:43 p.m. on Tuesday, <br />March 18, 2008. The following direction to staff was required from Executive Session: <br />Direction was given to staff regarding encroachments into the City of San Marcos' <br />extraterritorial jurisdiction. <br />5. Invocation <br />Assistant Pastor D.J. Castilleja of the Solid Rock Church provided the invocation. <br />6. Pledge of Alleiziance <br />Eagle Scout Shaun Ahmed, Troop 106, led the assembly in the pledge and spoke briefly <br />on his Eagle project. <br />7. Citizen Comments <br />Peter Baen, P.O. Box 207, San Marcos, Texas, noted that we appear to be in reach of <br />state funding with pass - through financing. This requires immediate attention for better <br />and new roads. There has been reluctance regarding Loop 110, and he finds San Marcos' <br />valiant efforts to protect funding noteworthy. He remarked that it would be great if the <br />state would underwrite the total cost so that money can be used for an extension in order <br />to avoid traffic going directly pass the high school. Mr. Baen noted that the consolidated <br />school district does not have the money to help with the project and urged Council to be <br />proactive and propose to the Commissioner's Court that agenda item 21 be placed on the <br />November ballot. <br />8. Staff Reports <br />Collette Jamison, Interim City Manager, reported that the Fire Department had received a <br />perfect score. She also thanked Council for attending the open house for the Permit <br />Center. She noted that, thanks to Laurie Anderson and her team, the Permit Center has <br />improved customer service and developed better review times. <br />9. City Council Reports <br />C.J. Morgan, Student Liaison, reported that he will be sending out a survey via email to <br />the Council to define their expectations of liaisons. He also reported on a blog he is <br />doing about what is going on in the city. <br />Pam Couch thanked the citizens for the opportunity to travel to Washington, D.C. in <br />order to speak with representatives about funding for special projects. She stated that <br />Mayor prepared a great presentation. She was also very impressed with our lobbyist who <br />appeared to be well respected.
