h) Classifications of leaks such as:
1) Main line;
2) Manhole;
3) Public service line; and
4) Private service line.
1.5.5 Utilize smoke testing to facilitate other tasks as required
1.5.6 If the linear footage of the sewer lines in the two designated areas varies from the present
estimate, consult with the City's representative to define target smoke test quantities. The
Consultant will record data for each smoke test in Microsoft Access 2000 format to facilitate
data upload to the City's Information Management System. The Consultant will follow all City
smoke testing procedures.
1.5.7 Report surcharged pipelines, pipelines with sags and/or blockages to the City on a weekly
basis. The Consultant will provide immediate notification of field conditions that could cause
damage to persons or property. Any public meetings, if required for this Project, should be
conducted before the smoke testing operations begin.
1.5.8 Prepare a technical memorandum outlining the results of this task for review by the City.
The technical memorandum will provide tabular and graphical listings of inspected system assets
and the location and type of defects. The Consultant will provide both hardcopy and electronic
formats of this data. The Consultant will provide the electronic data in Microsoft Access 2000
format.
1.6 TASK 5 -DYED WATER FLOODING/LEAK QUANTIFICATION
The Consultant will:
1.6.1 Identify interconnections, pinpoint inflow sources and quantify selected collection line,
manhole, and service line leaks that were identified based on the results of previous tasks. The
Consultant will base leak quantification estimates on field measurements and empirical values
developed from past experience.
1.6.2 Perform leak quantification for approximately 15 locations, to be determined during
smoke testing, using portable weirs or hydrostatic devices in conjunction with dyed water
flooding. The Consultant will provide the City's representative with a listing of candidates for
sanitary sewer dyed water flooding for approval before the operation begins. The Consultant will
record the dyed water testing on DVD in WMP or compatible format. The Consultant will use
this information to evaluate I/I rates and compare to flow monitoring results to determine
quantities of I/I. The Consultant will perform a portion of the dye flooding in conjunction with
Task 7.
1.6.3 Prepare a technical memorandum outlining the results of this task for review by the City.
GSWW, Inc.
