RESOLUTION 2008-56 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS' BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE FOR A JUSTICE AND MENTAL HEALTH COLLABORATION PROGRAM GRANT TO FUND THE CREATION OF A MENTAL HEALTH TASK FORCE WITH HAYS COUNTY AND SCHEIB MHMR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THE GRANT APPLICATION AND THE RESULTANT CONTRACTS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS RELATED TO THIS GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. Grant funding is available from the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance for a Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant. 2. The City wishes to request this grant funding from the United States Department of Justice in order to implement a Mental Health Task Force in collaboration with Hays County and Scheib MHMR. 3. The City understands that it will be responsible for 20% of the total project costs currently estimated to be approximately $31,250.00. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The submission of a grant application to the United States Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance for a Justice and Mental Health Collaboration Program Grant is approved. PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 20% ($31,250.00) of the total project costs is approved. PART 3. The Interim City Manager, Collette Jamison, is authorized to execute on behalf of the City, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of the City Council the grant application and the resultant contracts and other documents related to this grant application.
