RESOLUTION 2008-56 R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS AUTHORIZING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, <br />OFFICE OF JUSTICE PROGRAMS' BUREAU OF JUSTICE <br />ASSISTANCE FOR A JUSTICE AND MENTAL HEALTH <br />COLLABORATION PROGRAM GRANT TO FUND THE CREATION OF <br />A MENTAL HEALTH TASK FORCE WITH HAYS COUNTY AND <br />SCHEIB MHMR; AUTHORIZING THE CITY'S EXPENDITURE OF <br />LOCAL MATCHING FUNDS AND AUTHORIZING THE INTERIM <br />CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD <br />TO THE SUBMISSION OF THE GRANT APPLICATION AND THE <br />RESULTANT CONTRACTS AND OTHER DOCUMENTS RELATED TO <br />THIS GRANT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. Grant funding is available from the United States Department of Justice, Office of <br />Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance for a Justice and Mental Health Collaboration <br />Program Grant. <br />2. The City wishes to request this grant funding from the United States Department <br />of Justice in order to implement a Mental Health Task Force in collaboration with Hays County <br />and Scheib MHMR. <br />3. The City understands that it will be responsible for 20% of the total project costs <br />currently estimated to be approximately $31,250.00. <br />RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The submission of a grant application to the United States Department of <br />Justice, Office of Justice Programs' Bureau of Justice Assistance for a Justice and Mental Health <br />Collaboration Program Grant is approved. <br />PART 2. The City's expenditure of approximately 20% ($31,250.00) of the total <br />project costs is approved. <br />PART 3. The Interim City Manager, Collette Jamison, is authorized to execute on <br />behalf of the City, at the appropriate time, and with the appropriate authorizations of the City <br />Council the grant application and the resultant contracts and other documents related to this grant <br />application. <br />
