MPO/COG SUPPORT-ATTACHMENT H <br /> <br />November 24, 2009 <br />The Honorable Susan Norvaiz <br />630 East Hopkins Street <br />San Marcos, Texas, 78666 <br />Dear Mayor Narvoiz, <br />The Capital Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) is the Metropolitan <br />Planning Organization for Williamson, Travis and Hays Counties in Central Texas. The <br />purpose of CAMPO is to coordinate regional transportation planning with counties, cities <br />and transportation providers In the region and to approve the use of federal <br />transportation funds within the region. <br />In 2005, CAMPO's Transportation Policy Board adopted the CAMPO MoUify 2430 Plan. <br />Contained within the Plan are a variety of transportation projects and programs intended <br />to Improve the region's transportation system over the next 20+ years. One of these <br />programs is the federal Transportation Enhancements program. The project currently <br />being considered for funding through the Transportation Enhanc is Program by the <br />City of San Marcos: "Cross-Town Pathway Bicycle and Pedestrian Transportation <br />Corridor" Is consistent with the CAMPO 2030 Plan and furthers the implementation of the <br />regional plan. <br />If this project is selected by the Texas Department of Transportation for funding, CAMPO <br />staff is committed to processing an ornendment to its short-range Transportation <br />Improvement Program to Include the project.
