(a) Fence means any hedge, structure, or partition, constructed of any material <br />or combination of materials, including, but not limited to wood, stone, rock, brick, wire, <br />steel, metal or plastic, and the erected for the purpose of enclosing a piece of land, or to <br />divide a piece of land into distinct portions, or to separate two contiguous properties. <br />Fence also includes any enclosure about a space, or about any object intended to prevent <br />intrusion from without or straying from within. <br />(b) Permit required. No fence shall be erected or constructed without a permit <br />first having been issued by the Director of Development Services or his her designee. <br />(1) Gates for Vehicular Access. Gates designed for vehicular access shall be <br />set back from the property line a minimum of 24 feet. <br />(2) Fences within Public Easements. Fences crossing _a public easement shall <br />have a gate or removable panel to allow for maintenance access to such <br />easement. No fence within a public utility easement shall be allowed to <br />run parallel with the easement. <br />3) Fences within Drainaze Easements.
