<br />No. of appointments <br /> <br />Representing <br /> <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br /> <br />City Council <br />San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce <br />Minority Tourism or Hotel Industry <br />Food and Beverage businesses <br />San Marcos Industrial Foundation or San Marcos <br />Manufacturers Association <br />City residents <br /> <br />2 <br /> <br />(c) The voting members of the board are appointed for staggered three-year terms. <br /> <br />Sec. 2.112. General powers and duties. <br /> <br />(a) The minority economic development and tourism development advisory board will <br />advise and provide oversight for contracts between the city and the San Marcos Hispanic <br />Chamber of Commerce for programs for the promotion of minority economic development <br />and tourism within the city. <br /> <br />(b) The board will: <br /> <br />(1) Review the proposed annual budget of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of <br />Commerce for minority economic development and tourism promotion programs, and make <br />a recommendation to the city council on the budget. <br /> <br />(2) Monitor the performance of the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in <br />conducting minority economic development and tourism promotion programs under <br />contracts with the city. <br /> <br />(3) Provide advice and counsel to the San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce <br />as to the hiring and firing of management level employees responsible for minority economic <br />development and tourism promotion programs. <br /> <br />(4) Have other duties and authority as described in contracts between the city and the <br />San Marcos Hispanic Chamber of Commerce for minority economic development and <br />tourism promotion programs. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. Initial appointments to positions as voting members on the Board will decide their <br />terms of office by drawing lots, with three drawing terms of three years, two drawing terms of two <br />years, and two drawing terms of one year. Those drawing terms of office of one or two years will not <br />have their initial term count as a term of office under City Code Sec. 2.068. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. If any word, phrase, clause, sentence, or paragraph of this ordinance is held to be <br />unconstitutional or invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, the other provisions of this ordinance <br />will continue in force if they can be given effect without the invalid portion. <br /> <br />2 <br />
