RESOLUTION NO. 2008-80R • A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING AND RATIFYING A GRANT APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF STATE HEALTH SERVICES FOR THE PURCHASE OF EMERGENCY MEDICAL EQUIPMENT FOR THE PARK RANGER PROGRAM; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. RECITALS: 1. The Park Ranger program is applying for a grant from the Texas Department of State Health Services for assistance in purchasing emergency medical equipment, such as defibrilllators, for their use in responding to emergencies that occur in the parks. Since the use of the parks, particularly Rio Vista Falls is increasing, this equipment would be invaluable for the protection of the public. 2. The grant requires that the City provide matching funds in the amount of $4,000.00; however, the San Marcos Lions Club has graciously promised to donate $4,000 to the City for use as the City's matching funds. 3. The City certifies that the matching share for this application is readily available at this time. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The City of San Marcos City Council approves the submission of the attached grant application to the Texas Department of State Health Services for assistance in purchasing emergency equipment. PART 2. The City Manager, Rick Menchaca, is authorized to act as the City's representative and execute the attached grant application, and any subsequent grant agreement documents with the Texas Department of State Health Services for the purchase of emergency equipment. PART 3. All previous actions taken in the submission of this grant to the Texas Department of State Health Services are hereby ratified. PART 4.
