STORYMAPS <br />As technology has evolved, more and more stories are being shared online via interactive Esri <br />Geographic Information System (GIS) StoryMaps that allow viewers to explore maps of resources <br />and digitized historical imagery including snapshots and old newspapers among other items. These <br />projects are not static and can be updated with new information about projects as they proceed. <br />DUNBAR HISTORIC DISTRICT & DUNBAR <br />SCHOOL HOME ECONOMICS BUILDING <br />STORYMAP, 2023 <br />The City Historic Preservation Program created <br />a StoryMap to document the NRHP nomination <br />and designation process and timeline. Project <br />background was shared and feedback was <br />solicited from the public on this project <br />funded through the NPS Underrepresented <br />Communities grant and a CLG grant. <br />DUNBAR PARK THROUGH THE AGES <br />STORYMAP, 2024 <br />City Parks and Recreation staff created a <br />StoryMap to highlight the park's history and <br />development from the early nineteenth century <br />to the present-day. The StoryMap includes the <br />designation of the Dunbar Historic District, the <br />creation of the San Marcos Dunbar and Heritage <br />neighborhood plan, and the park's recognition as <br />a Lone Star Legacy Park in 2025. <br />Draft Nominations Process & Timeline Project Background NRHP Past Events comet Involved <br />Explore the Draft Nominations! <br />The Texas State Board of Review meets three times <br />each year to advise the State Historic Preservation <br />Officer regarding National Register nominations. This <br />review is required by federal law and provides an <br />opportunity for public comment. <br />The draft nominations were presented to the Texas <br />State Board of Review on January 1-3, 2024, and were <br />approved.
