POSTWAR GROWTH & PRESERVATION MOVEMENT (1945-1992) <br />The National Trust for <br />Historic Preservation <br />created Main Street <br />America program. <br />1982 <br />Heritage Association <br />completed National <br />Register Multiple <br />Resource Area survey <br />for 31 buildings and 1 <br />district. <br />San Antonio Street <br />Historic District locally <br />designated. <br />Southwest Texas State <br />University discovered <br />Native American <br />remains during <br />construction and <br />maintenance on the <br />campus in Fall 1982. <br />1983 <br />Belvin Street Historic <br />District is listed in the <br />NRHP. <br />in February 1983, <br />Southwest Texas State <br />University conducted <br />an archaeological <br />excavation and <br />analysis on the Native <br />American remains <br />found the previous <br />year. <br />Numerous Pre -contact artifacts have been discovered <br />since the 1970s due to the river and springs.
