<br />Builds community support and raises awareness of the need for preserving
<br />the Central Hill County's nature and heritage through advocacy, education
<br />and outreach, research, and building partnerships and networks with other
<br />organizations in the region. Annual events include the Texas Water Symposium,
<br />the Hill Country Leadership Summit, the Hill Country Night Sky Month, and the
<br />Spring Water Revival.

<br />Founded by members of the Miakan-Garza Band, a state -legislature -
<br />recognized Indian tribe and one of over 600 hundred bands that resided in
<br />Texas and northeastern Mexico when the Spaniards first arrived, the ICI plays
<br />INDIGENOM CULTURES a vital role in cultural preservation through preserving the rich heritage of the
<br />T Coahuiltecan people, including their culture, arts, traditions, ceremonies, and
<br />languages. Through educational initiatives, the protection of sacred sites, and
<br />the annual Sacred Springs Powwow, the ICI actively works to honor and sustain
<br />the legacy of the Coahuiltecan people for future generations.

<br />LYNDON B JOHNSON MUSEUM OF SAN MARCOS, 2006
<br />Showcases Lyndon B. Johnson's, the 26th President of the United States, time
<br />as a student at Texas State University, in a historic downtown building. Through
<br />permanent exhibits, digital exhibits, and guided tours, the museum engages
<br />and educates visitors about the contributions the president made toward civil
<br />rights, voting rights, education, and the elimination of poverty.

<br />Mexican American school built in 1949. The organization moved into the
<br />building in 2009 and opened its doors to the public in 2010.

<br />Created by the San Marcos Art League in the Downtown Historic District, it
<br />promotes and encourages the arts in the City and partners with other creative

<br />demonstrations.
