<br />livestock has not changed in recent years, and the biotic succeSSIOn of the floral <br />community has remained static. The plant community of the proposed tract is almost <br />entirely agricultural fields. The dominant vegetation is a mixture of winter wheat <br />(Triticum aestivum) and oats (Avena fatua). In some areas, Bermudagrass (Cynodon <br />dactylon), ryegrass (Lotium perenne), and little barley (Hordeum pusillium) also occur. <br /> <br />Ground cover averaged 93%. Species offorbs intermix with grasses in the more heavily <br />grazed areas. Forb species included chickweed (Cerastium sp.), white prick1epoppy, wild <br />mustard (Sismbrium sp.), and silverleafnightshade." 1 <br /> <br />"The dominant native grassland community specIes throughout the specific <br />project area include little bluestem, silver bluestem, Johnson grass (Sorghum halepense), <br />side oats grama, common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia), golden-rod (Solidago spp.), <br />common sunflower (Helianthus annuus), iva annua, brazi1 (Condalia hookeri), Texas <br />colubrina (Colubrina texensis), twisted-leaf yucca (Yucca rupicola), Lindheimer's senna <br />(Cassia lindheimeri), wooly bumilia (Bumelia languinosa), croton (Croton spp.), and tick <br />trefoil (Desmodium spp.). Dominant trees and shrubs are cedar elm are (Ulmus <br /> <br />crassifolia), Texas ash (Fraxinus texensis), possumhaw (flex decidua), live oak, Texas <br />persimmon (Diospyros texana), ashe juniper, agarito (Berberis trifoliolata), prickly pear <br />cactus, and pencil cactus." The floodplain covers approximately 81.2 acres, and <br />extends throughout the length of the proposed park property.
