<br />Lifelong Learning Project <br />Program Narrative--Appendix A <br /> <br />lIÆlONG lEARNING PROJECT <br /> <br />SAN MARCOS PUBliC LIBRARY and SWTSU EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY CENTER <br /> <br />AGREEMENT OF COOPERATION <br /> <br />The San Marcos Public Library and the SWTSU Educational Opportunity Center. a division of lhe Office of <br />Minority Student Affairs. are committed to providing adults with less than a twelfth grade education with <br />educational materials and services which will enable them to lead fuller. more productive lives. The two <br />organizations have lherefore agreed to cooperate with each other in the development of a Lifelong Learning <br />Project. <br /> <br />The organizalions will seek funding for their project through an lSCA. Title ,. grant The grant will be <br />administered by the San Marcos Public Library. acting on behalf of the City of San Marcos. Should the San <br />Marcos Public Library be successful in obtaining lhe LSCA. Tille I. grant. the Educational Opportunity <br />Center agrees to: <br /> <br />1) staff the library with tutors paid with fOC funds for at-least-twenty hours per week <br />for forty weeks in State FY 1987-88; <br /> <br />2) assisllhe library in planning and developing a series of life skills workshops foradulls <br />with less than a twelfth grade education; <br /> <br />3) provide all statistics and other data necessary lo meet grant reporting reQUirements; and <br /> <br />4) assist the library in publicizing the services and materials available through the <br />Lifelong Learning Project <br /> <br />In turn. The San Marcos Public Library agrees to: <br /> <br />1) admInister the lSCA. TItle " grant and file all reports which the grant requires; <br /> <br />2) hire. train. and supervise a Coordinator for the lifelong Learning Project; <br /> <br />3) provide facilities for fOC and volunteer lulors to use in connection with the <br />project's adult education lutoring program; <br /> <br />4) provide malerials. eQUipmenl. and publicity for the projecl; and <br />5) provide EOC funded tulors with free training. <br /> <br />This egreement will only go Inlo effedlf LCSA. Tille 1. grant funding is eworded to the San Marcos Public <br />library. The agreement will begin the effective date of funding and will last one calendar year. <br /> <br />Representatives of both organizations will meel regularly to evaluale lhe progress and performance of the <br />proposed lifelong Learning Project. We believe that our cooperation will result in a high quality program of <br />services for adults with less than a twelfth grade educalion. <br /> <br />Stephanie Langenkamp.
