<br />Lifelong Learning Project <br />Program Narrative--Appendix D--page 2 <br /> <br />SAN MARCOS PUBLIC LIBRARY <br />ADUl T EDUCATION TUTOR <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br /> <br />TITLE: Volunteer Tutor <br /> <br />PURPOSE: To help oou1ts with Jess than a twelfth grade education learn to read, write, <br />compute, study for the GED test, or learn life skills through one-to-one <br />indfvidual1zed tutoring. <br /> <br />HOURS: At least two hours per week, to be arranged. <br />COMMITMENT REQUIRED: Minimum of nine months. <br /> <br />DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: <br /> <br />1. Give students encouragement and help them develop a positive attitude by <br />providing encouragement and showing acceptance of them. <br /> <br />2. Di¡:q¡ose student's entry level of learning, set goals and lesson plans that <br />are appropriate for the individual gtutEnt. <br /> <br />3. Meet regularly with student to tutor and review work. <br /> <br />4. Report to Project Coordinator regularly on student progress. <br /> <br />S. Keep records of student's progress, attendance, and the number of hours spent <br />in tutoring. <br /> <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br /> <br />Must be dependable. <br />Must have a positive attitude toward people and learning. <br />Must be friendly and patient. <br />High school diploma required. <br />Spanish langu~ skills preferred. <br /> <br />TRAINING: A seven hour tutor training workshop is required. <br />
