<br />24 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 1987-53R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS, SUPPORTING THE PASSAGE OF HOUSE BILL <br />1942 AND SENATE BILL 1046 BEFORE THE 70TH SESSION OF <br />THE TEXAS LEGISLATURE, AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Edwards Aquifer is the sole source of water for <br />the City of San Marcos and many other municipalities over a five <br />(5) county region of South Texas; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos recognizes the need to manage the <br />acquifer, particularly in times of drought; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of San Antonio and the Edwards Underground Water <br />District have caused Senate Bill 1046 and House Bill 1942 to be <br />introduced; <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the successful passage of this legislation would provide <br />for the development, administration and enforcement of a Drought <br />Management Plan for the Edwards Underground Water District; now, <br />there fore, <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br />COUNCI L OF <br /> <br />THE <br /> <br />CITY OF <br /> <br />SAN <br /> <br />MARCOS, <br /> <br />PART 1. That the City Council of the City of San Marcos supports <br />passage of House Bill 1942 and Senate Bill 1046. <br /> <br />PART 2.
