17 RESOLUTION 1987-113 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, M1ENDING RESOLUTION 1981-1R CONCERNING THE POLICY OF THE CITY COUNCIL REGARDING APPOINTMENTS TO BOARDS, COMMISSIONS AND AUTHORITIES AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the restrictions of Resolution 1981-IR of the City Council on reappointments after the service of two terms on a City board, commission or authority is sometimes too restrictive; and, WHEREAS, the City Council desires to provide more flexibility for those limited cases where a reappointment after two terms would be in the best interest of the City of San Marcos; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY TEXAS: COUNCI L OF THE CITY OF SAN r.1ARCOS , PART 1. That Part 6 of Resolution 1981-lR declaring the policy of the City regarding the appointment and reappointment of members of boards, commissions and authorities be rescinded and a new Part 6 adopted as follows: Part 6. Notwithstanding the foregoing statement of policies and practices regarding appointments and reappointments to boards, commissions and authorities of the City of San Marcos, the City Council may for good cause, in order to serve the public interest, reappoint, for one additional term only, a person to a board, commission or authority who has served two consecutive terms. Good cause shall include, but not be limited to, a situation where over half of the members on a board, commission or authority are inexperienced with the work of that board, commission or authority for which. the appointment is being considered, in which case, a sufficient number of members may be reappointed to assure that at least half of the members on any board, commission or authority are sufficiently experienced at all times.
