<br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br />RULES AND REGULATIONS FOR ELECTRIC SERVICE <br /> <br />Adjustment of Bills for Meter Error <br /> <br />All meters shall be tested for accuracy before being installed <br />and at regular intervals thereafter. No meter shall be installed <br />or remain in service which is not within the accuracy standards <br />established by the American National Standards Institute, <br />Incorporated. <br /> <br />If a customer believes that a meter is registering inaccurately, <br />he may request a test to be performed during normal business <br />hours at a time to be determined by the city. Such determination <br />shall accommodate the convenience of the customer if the customer <br />desires to observe the test. <br /> <br />The test shall be made on the customer's premises or at the <br />City's discretion at a test laboratory. When a meter test is <br />performed upon request by the customer in accordance wi th the <br />foregoing, such test shall be made at no cost to the customer: <br />however, if the meter has been tested by the City, or by an <br />authorized agency, at the customer's request, and within a period <br />of four years the customer requests a new test, the city shall <br />make the test, but if the meter is found to be within the accur- <br />acy standards established by the American National Standards <br />Institute, Incorporated, the City may charge the customer a fee <br />which reflects the cost to test the meter, but this charge shall <br />in no event be more than fifteen dollars ($15.-00) for a residen- <br />tial customer. Other classes of customers shall pay the actual <br />cost of the test including appropriate overheads. If the meter <br />is found to be registering inaccurately, the City will assume the <br />cost of the test and will adjust the customer's bill for the <br />effect of the error. Following the completion of any requested <br />test, the City shall promptly advise the customer of the date of <br />removal of the meter, the date of the test, the result of the <br />test, and who made the test. <br />
