<br />Concrete used for all construction (except backfill) shall <br /> <br />be a 3,000 psi, five sack, transit mix, and held to a <br /> <br />maximum slump of 4-inches. <br /> <br />Concrete not used after one <br /> <br />hour from introduction of water at the concrete plant will <br /> <br />be rejected. <br /> <br />Extremes of temperature will restrict <br /> <br />concrete placement as stated in above specifications. <br /> <br />All <br /> <br />concrete will be cured by one of the three approved <br /> <br />methods, of which membrane curing is preferred. <br /> <br />Traffic <br /> <br />will not be allowed on new concrete for a minimum of 72- <br /> <br />hours. <br /> <br />Large slabs in cold weather may require mare curing <br /> <br />time. <br /> <br />Calcium chloride will not be used. <br /> <br />Asphalt concrete wearing or finish surface will be saw cut <br /> <br />six inches wider on each side of the previous concrete or <br /> <br />flexible base course. <br /> <br />Mix will be Type nOn asphalt plant <br /> <br />mix. <br /> <br />All cuts requiring asphalt will be finished with <br /> <br />compacted asphaltic concrete not less than two inches <br /> <br />thick, placed with not less than 180 degree asphalt <br /> <br />temperature, existing concrete or asphalt tacked with liquid <br />asphalt and finished flush with existing surface to a <br /> <br />density of 95%. <br /> <br />The size of cut may require base to be <br /> <br />primed with liquid asphalt and asphalt placed with an <br /> <br />approved lay-dawn machine. <br /> <br />NOTIFICATION PROCEDURES <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />The Utility/Contractor shall notify Public Works at 353- <br /> <br />4444, Extension 277, at least one hour before beginning <br />permanent backfill operations. <br /> <br />10 <br />
