125. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 2003- 217 R <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A LETTER AGREEMENT <br />BETWEEN THE CITY AND THE GUADALUPE-BLANCO <br />RIVER AUTHORITY RELATED TO RESERVATION OF <br />CAPACITY IN THE SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT, <br />AN INCREASE IN THE CITY'S COMMITMENT OF WATER <br />SUPPLY FROM CANYON LAKE, AND THE COST FOR GBRA'S <br />OPERATION OF THE SURFACE WATER TREATMENT PLANT; <br />AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE <br />AGREEMENT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />RECITALS: <br /> <br /> 1. The City has several contracts with the Guadalupe-Blanco River Authority (GBRA) that <br />relate to the City's water system, among which are the following: <br /> <br />A. A contract for the supply of raw water from storage in Canyon Lake; <br />B. A contract for the development of the surface water treatment plant (SWTP) and supply <br /> pipeline from the Guadalupe River; and <br />C. A contract for the operation of the SWTP. <br /> <br /> 2. The City staff has negotiated the attached letter agreement amending these contracts in the <br />following three areas: <br /> <br />A. GBRA's reservation of capacity in the SWTP; <br />B. An increase in the City's quantity of water supply from Canyon Lake; and <br />C. The costs for GBRA's operation of the SWTP. <br /> <br />3. The City Council wishes to approve the attached letter agreement ~amending the contracts. <br /> <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br /> <br /> PART 1. The attached letter agreement between the City of San Marcos and the Guadalupe- <br />Blanco River Authority is approved. <br /> <br /> PART 2. The City Manager, Dan O'Leary, is authorized to execute the attached letter <br />agreement on behalf of the City. <br /> <br />PART 3. This Resolution is in full force and effect immediately from and after its adoption. <br /> <br />ADOPTED on December 8, 2003. <br /> <br /> <br />
