Todays <br />global economy requires workers to continually improve and upgra <br />and credentials or risk being left behind in low skill, low wage <br />Action 1: Establish a complete Austin Community College (ACC) district <br />campusinGreaterSanMarcos. <br />Fully support and endorse ACC in its efforts to annex the San Ma <br />into its service district. <br />o <br />Work with ACC officials to ensure that the schools updated Mast <br />Plan include specific details <br />related to expanding the <br />district in San Marcos. <br /> <br />Connect job skills training and <br />curricula to economic development <br />targets. <br />o <br />As the ACC district campus is <br />being developed, ensure that <br />curricula align with the workforce skills needed by Greater San <br />Marcos target industries. <br /> <br />Action 2: Expand the utilization of Gary JobCorps as a local workforce <br />development tool by the Greater San Marcos community <br />Develop a new image of Gary Job Corps through key marketing prog <br />and image-building initiatives that demonstrate the school is a valuable <br />workforce development resource for the residents of Caldwell and Hays <br />counties. <br /> <br />Increase opportunities for career training through Gary Job Corps related to <br />high-demand occupations in target industry sectors. <br />o <br />Expand internship opportunities within Greater San Marcos. <br />Final Strategy <br />September 2009 12 <br /> <br />
