189. RESOLUTION NO. 2004- 12 R A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS APPROVING EMISSION REDUCTION MEASURES IN CONNECTION WITH THE AUSTIN-ROUND ROCK MSA EARLY ACTION COMPACT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is committed to protecting the health and economic vitality of the community; and WHEREAS, protecting the region's air quality is important to the community's health and economic vitality; and WHEREAS, the City of San Marcos is, with other communities in the region, examining a variety of measures to improve the areas air quality; and WHEREAS, the City Council in 2002 approved the City's participation in an Early Action Compact Agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) to provide Central Texas with a mechanism to effectively address the region's air quality issues; and WHEREAS, in co~mection with the Early Action Compact Agreement, the City of San Marcos wishes to choose those emission reduction measures most suitable to its circumstances and resources; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: PART 1. The City Council approves the emission reduction measures shown on the attached Table 1 and Table 2 in connection with the Austin/Round Rock MSA Early Action Compact Agreement. PART 2. The City Manager, Dan O'Leary, is authorized to communicate the City's selected emission reduction measures to the Central Texas Clean Air Force. PART 3.
