<br />20 <br /> <br />regular meeting, february 26, 1979 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS ANNEXING TO SAID CITY <br />A CONTIGUOUS TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING A <br />.1377 ACRE LOCATED WITHIN THE EXTRA- <br />TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF SAID CITY AND <br />LYING ADJACENT TO PRESENT CITY BOUNDARIES; <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be approved on second reading. I <br />Mr. James seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS ANNEXING TO SAID CITY <br />A CONTIGUOUS TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING <br />18.30 ACRES LOCATED WITHIN THE EXTRA- <br />TERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF SAID CITY AND <br />LYING ADJACENT TO PRESENT CITY BOUNDARIES; <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be approved on second reading. <br />Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor and Council Member Hyatt read an ordinance having <br />the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE EXTENDING THE TIME WITHIN <br />WHICH THE TEXAS MUSEm1 OF HISTORY, INC. <br />WILL RETAIN THE POWERS GRANTED BY ORDINANCE <br />NO. 1974-48, APPROVED ON SEPTEMBER 9, 1974, <br />AND OF RECORD IN VOLUME 44, PAGE 47, OF THE <br />MINUTES OF THE CITY COUNCIL, AND LATER I <br />AMENDED BY ORDINANCE 1977-46, APPROVED <br />NOVEMBER 7, 1977, AND OF RECORD IN VOLUME <br />47, PAGE 168, OF THE MINUTES OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL WHICH DEDICATED A CERTAIN TRACT <br />OF REALTY FOR THE PURPOSE OF A PUBLIC <br />MUSEUM, SAID TRACT TO BE USED FOR A MUSEUM, <br />SAID MUSEUM TO BE CONSTRUCTED UNDER THE <br />MANAGEMENT OF THE TEXAS MUSEUM OF HISTORY, <br />INC.; EXTENDING THE THm WITHIN WHICH THE <br />BUILDING MUST BE COMPLETED; AUTHORIZING <br />THE CITY MANAGER OF SAN MARCOS TO ENTER <br />INTO CONTRACTUAL AGREEMENTS WITH TEXAS <br />MUSEUM OF HISTORY, INC., AND TO TAKE ALL <br />STEPS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THE INTENTS <br />AND PURPOSES EXPRESSED HEREIN. <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. Breihan seconded the motion. The City Manager explained <br />that the ordinance had been prepared for a five year <br />extension, however, that time could be amended by action of <br />the Council. On roll call, the motion to approve the <br />ordinance on first reading was unanimously approved. <br />Mr. Breihan asked that the next agenda contain an item <br />authorizing the reallocation of money previously approved for I <br />renovation of the old City Hall building to begin a museum <br />building fund. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced a request for lease of property for use <br />by the Women, Infants and Children's Nutritional Program. <br />Mrs. Donna Phillips, WIC Director, came before the Council to <br />explain that the program had previously been conducted in <br />Woods Homes housing project but that the space was being <br />converted to other uses and therefore the WIC Program would <br />have to be conducted in other quarters. Mr. Hyatt moved <br />approval of the lease of a City owned structure located at <br />401 Jackman on the condition that the WIC Program make payments <br />in lieu of rent of $150.00 per month plus the deposit fee of <br />SI50.00. Mr. Breihan seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br />
