<br />29 <br /> <br />regular meeting, march 5, 1979 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be approved on second reading. <br />Mr. Hansen seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, ACCEPTING THE BID OF <br />SAN MARCOS TELEPHONE COMPANY, INC. FOR THE <br />PURCHASE OF A PORTION OF LOTS 16 AND 17 OF THE <br />MILLVIEW ADDITION TO THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS; AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE A <br />SPECIAL WARRANTY DEED TO SAID BIDDER ON BEHALF <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, IN TRUST, FOR ITSELF, <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS, THE COUNTY OF HAYS, AND THE <br />SAN MARCOS CONSOLIDATED INDEPENDENT SCHOOL <br />DISTRICT; AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved ~he ordinance be approved on second reading. <br />Mr. Hansen seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS ANNEXING TO SAID CITY A CONTIGUOUS <br />TRACT OF LAND CONTAINING A .1377 ACRE LOCATED <br />WITHIN THE EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION OF <br />SAID CITY AND LYING ADJACENT TO PRESENT CITY <br />BOUNDARIES; AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be adopted on third and final <br />reading. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which passed <br />unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an ordinance having the following caption: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, REAP~ROPRIATING FUNDS <br />ORIGINALLY APPROPRIATED BY ORDINANCE 1977-36, <br />ADOPTED ON SEPTEMBER 12, 1977 AND DECLARING <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be approved on first reading. <br />Mr. James seconded the motion. Mr. Hyatt expressed his <br />distress that so much money had been expended on architectural <br />fees. Mr. Sutton requested consideration of prohibiting any <br />expenditure of the monies reallocated for architectural fees I <br />or any other use without specific Council approval until the <br />entire amount of the construction cost had been raised by the <br />museum board. Mr. Breihan requested Mr. Hansen amend his <br />motion to provide for that restriction as well as placing a <br />time limit of five years on the use of the money so that if <br />the new museum building had not been constructed within a five <br />year period, the money would be reallocated by the City Council. <br />Mrs. Catherine Johnson, representing the Texas Museum of History, <br />Inc., reported to the Council that the Board had discussed the <br />site with the Chamber of Commerce and that there was a possibility <br />that both a museum and a mini civic center would be constructed <br />on the site with the Chamber paying the initial architectural fees. <br />
