<br />89 <br /> <br />regular meeting, april 23, 1979 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING THAT <br />RESOLUTION ADOPTED APRIL 9, 1979 WHICH <br />ORDERED THE SPECIAL CITY ELECTION TO BE <br />HELD MAY 5, 1979, BY PROVIDING FOR THE <br />APPOINTMENT OF ELECTION OFFICIALS; AND <br />DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, DESIGNATING <br />THE CITY MANAGER AS SIGNATORY AGENT TO <br />MAKE APPLICATION FOR A FEDERAL WATER <br />POLLUTION GRANT. <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. James <br />seconded the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APPROVING A <br />PROJECT SCHEDULE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A <br />FEDERAL WATER POLLUTION CONTROL GRANT <br />APPLICATION. ' <br /> <br />Mr. James moved the resolution be adopted. Mr. Hansen seconded <br />the motion which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Manager reported to the Council that a spring clean. <br />up project had been planned by the City Staff which would <br />allow residents to have brush and trash hauled by City crews <br />on each Wednesday beginning May 9, 1979 and ending June 13, <br />1979. Council also discussed the possibility of allowing <br />residents to use the landfill free of charge on certain days <br />during that period. No action was taken by the Council. <br />Mr. Dunlap also reported on negotiations with Southwest Texas <br />State University representatives-regarding sewer rates. He <br />told the Council that updated enrollment figures had been <br />received by the City and would be used in devising a formula <br />for sewer charges. Mr. Hyatt said he felt the University <br />ought to be charged for sewer usage on the amount of water <br />they pumped from their wells. Mr. Breihan requested that the <br />University be billed from this time on using updated enrollment <br />figures instead of waiting until the new sewer rate were devised. <br />Mr. Dunlap also told the Council that the water and sewer rate <br />study being conducted by the City's consultants would be ready <br />this summer. <br /> <br />Mr. Hyatt commended the efficiency and attitude of City workers <br />during the recent flooding in the City. <br /> <br />The meeting adjourned at 8:20 ~.m. on motion of Mr. Tenorio <br />and second of Mr. Hansen. <br /> <br />I <br />
