<br />173 <br /> <br />special meeting, june 27, 1979 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for discussion the Browning-Ferris <br />use of the city landfill. Mr. Hansen said that he had <br />met earlier in the day with representatives of Gary Job <br />Corps concerning Browning-Ferris disposal of their garbage <br />to insure that the trucks could be checked before entering <br />Gary to see that they were empty. Mr. Hyatt, who also <br />attended the meeting, stated that he wished to negotiate <br />with Gary to take over their account and that he felt the <br />landfill should be closed to commercial haulers. Mr. Hyatt <br />said he felt this action would conserve landfill space. I <br />Council Members discussed the feasibility of servicing all <br />commercial accounts in the city as well as the Camp Gary <br />account. The Acting City Manager agreed to have staff <br />recommendations for Council consideration on July 9. <br />Mr. Hansen moved to direct the Staff to prepare recommendations <br />to close the landfill to all but the City's operations and <br />private citizens of San Marcos by August 31.
