The Mayor read an ordinance having the following caption: AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND ~AND, DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOT I, BLOCK 1 OF THE J. H. COMBS ADDITION, LOCAT- ED AT THE INTERSECTION OF BISHOP AND HOPKINS STREETS, FROM "p" (PUBLIC) TO "M" (MIXED). I Mr. Hansen moved the ordinance be approved on second reading, Mr. Breihan seconded the motion which was unanimously approved. The Mayor introduced for consideration confirmation of a resolution adopted July 3, 1978 relating to"the extension of utilities to the San Marcos Industrial Foundation property. The Council considered two drafts of the resolution. The first, identified as "Resolution A" stipulated that the subject property would be annexed by the City within seven years from the date utilities were extended. "Resolution B" stated the property would be annexed, but gave no time period. The City Manager expressed his concern that prospective industries might think the Council meant to wait seven years to annex the property, wfteh'in<fact, under the terms of the resolution the Council could annex the property at any time. Mr. Webster said he felt the reference to seven years to be misleading. Mr. Hyatt moved Resolution A be confirmed and ratified. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: AYE: Sutton, Breihan, Hansen, Cavazos, Hyatt James I NAY: The Mayor introduced for consideration the City's position on improvements to Redwood Road to be constructed by the Texas Department of Highways and Public Transportation. Mayor Cavazos informed the public and Council Members that the public hearing concerning the Redwood Road would be Thursday night at the High School. No action was taken by Council. The Mayor next introduced for discussion procedure for developing specifications for City equipment and vehicles. Mr. Wayne Kemp, Shop Superintendent, was present to answer any questions the Council might have, along with Kathy Weber, Purchasing Agent. No action was taken. The Mayor introduced for re-consideration bids received on pickup trucks. Mr. Breihan moved the bids be cancelled and the pickups rebid. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion which passed unanimously. The Mayor stated the sub-committee and the Commissioners Court were to meet on Monday, July 17, 1978 at 8:00 a.m. I Mayor Cavazos invited the public and Council Members to a Charter Review Commission meeting July II, at 7:30 p.m, The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m. on motion of Mr. Cavazos and second of Mr. Hyatt.
