<br />41 <br /> <br />regular meeting, may 24, 1976 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of a request from Mrs. Orvel Gibson for the temporary <br />location of a mobile home on Farm Lot 10 of the Whisenant 1st Addition, the <br />southeast corner of Porter and Wilson streets. Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Arredondo moved that an earlier request by Entex, Inc. for a gas cost <br />adjustment clause to be applied to the base rate be brought from the table. <br />Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Mayor Craddock <br />explained that two ordinances had been prepared for consideration. The first, <br />designated as Ordinance "A" provided for the rate adjustment to be applied <br />indefinitely. Ordinance "B" provided for the ordinance to continue to be in I <br />effect only until April 1, 1978. Mr. Breihan moved that Ordinance "B" be <br />amended to provide for a termination date of one year from the effective date <br />of the Ordinance, and that said Ordinance be approved on first reading. Mr. <br />Hansen seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read an Ordinance in its entirety, the caption of which is as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, AMENDING SECTION 19 OF <br />~~HAT CERTAIN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, CODIFIED AS <br />APPENDIX A IN THE CODE OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />BY EXPANDING THE MEMBERSHIP OF THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT FROM FIVE TO <br />SEVEN MEMBERS. <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan moved approval of the Ordinance on first reading. Mr. Cavazos <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for confirmation the appointment of five members to the <br />Board of Adjustment as follows: W.C. Carson, Jerry L. Moore, Walter B. Preston, <br />Ben P. McCollum, and Erwin Tietjen. Mr. Sutton moved the appointments be <br />confirmed. Mr. Hansen se~9nded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AJ~LOCATING FUNDS FOR A COST OF LIVING ADJUSTMENT FOR CITY EMPLOYEES <br />Al/D AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PLACE VARIOUS REMUNERATION PACKAGES <br />BEFORE CITY EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR DECISION. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Sut.ton moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. <br />Mayor Craddock moved the Resolution be amended-to provide in Part 1 that the <br />Council set aside $112,249 in the General Fund and $18,016 in the Utility Fund <br />to be a.llocated as a source of funds for a remuneration cost of living adjustment. <br />Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Craddock, Hansen, James, Sutton, Arredondo, Cavazos <br />NAY: Breihan. <br /> <br />Mr. Breihan stated his op1n10n that classified employees should receive.a greater <br />percentage of the increase than proposed for the unclassified employees. <br />Mayor Craddock moved the amend the Resolution to provide in Part 3 that classified <br />employees should receive a 15% cost of living adjustment and unclassified employees <br />should receive a 10% cost of living adjustment. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion. <br />On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AY]~: Hansen, James, Sutton, Arredondo, Cavazos, Craddock <br />NAY: Breihan. <br /> <br />The Mayor moved to amend the Resolution in Part 4 to read: "That if the option <br />chosen is one of a staged-step installment process, then such cost of living <br />adjustments shall be in equal or near equal installments of four percent in I <br />October 1976, four percent in February 1977, and seven percent in June 1977 for <br />classified employees; and four percent in October.1976, four percent in February <br />1977, and two percent in June 1977 for unclassified employees. Mr. Arredondo <br />seconded the motion. On roll call, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: James, Sutton, Arredondo, Cavazos, Craddock, Hansen <br />NAY: Breihan. <br />
