Evans <br /> City Secretary Doriss Hambrick <br /> Director of Public Works William T. Friedrich <br /> Director of Finance Earl T. Williams <br />Absent, Councilman Frank T. Arredondo <br /> <br />Also present: Mrs. Everett F. Johnson; Ron Cauble; Melissa Millecam; Jerri Martin; <br />Terry Roberts; Rowe Ray; Gary Bond; and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock introduced for consideration the appointment of a City Health <br />Officer. The City Attorney reviewed the statutes and constitutional provisions <br />relating to such an appointment. It was noted that residence in the city was a <br />re~uirement not met by the previous health officer. Mr. Cavazos re~uested the <br />staff inform the Council exactly what the Health Department is responsible for <br />in terms of health services. Mayor Craddock moved that the matter of the appoint- <br />ment of a health officer be referred to the State Department of Health for <br />recommendation and clarification in view of the constitutional and statutory <br />re~uirements which the Council cannot meet since no physician residing within the <br />city limits would agree to serVe in the position. Mr. Hansen seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously.
