• <br />RESOLUTION 2010 - 54R <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN <br />MARCOS, TEXAS RATIFYING THE SUBMISSION OF A GRANT <br />APPLICATION TO THE TEXAS DEPARTMENT OF <br />TRANSPORTATION FOR A SELECTIVE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT <br />PROGRAM (STEP) GRANT FOR NEIGHBORHOOD TRAFFIC <br />ENFORCEMENT; CERTIFYING THAT CITY MATCHING FUNDS <br />REQUIRED FOR THIS GRANT PROGRAM ARE AVAILABLE AT THIS <br />TIME AND AUTHORIZING THE EXPENDITUTE OF THE MATCHING <br />FUNDS; AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ACT ON THE <br />CITY'S BEHALF WITH REGARD TO THE SUBMISSION OF THIS <br />GRANT APPLICATION AND THE EXECUTION OF THE GRANT <br />CONTRACT AND ALL OTHER DOCUMENTS WITH THE TEXAS <br />DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION RELATED TO THE STEP <br />GRANT PROGRAM AND DECLARING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />RECITALS: <br />1. The City wishes to increase effective enforcement and adjudication of traffic <br />• safety - related laws to reduce fatal and serious injury crashes in San Marcos neighborhoods. <br />2. The Texas Department of Transportation ( "TxDOT ") has grant funding available <br />through its Selective Traffic Enforcement Program for heightened neighborhood traffic <br />enforcement. <br />3. The City wishes to submit a grant application to TxDOT for consideration of this <br />available STEP grant funding. <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, <br />TEXAS: <br />PART 1. The submission of a STEP grant application to TxDOT for funding for <br />neighborhood traffic enforcement is ratified. <br />PART 2. The City certifies its provision of $7,200.00 (10.17 %) of the total STEP <br />program cost in local matching funds. <br />PART 3. The City Manager, Rick Menchaca, is authorized to act on the City's <br />behalf with regard to the submission of this grant application and the execution of the grant <br />contract and all other documents with TxDOT related to the STEP Grant Program. <br />• 1 of 2 <br />
