<br />126 <br /> <br />regular meeting, november 8, 1976 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The l1ayor introduced for consideration bids received on a portable pump. (see <br />bid sheet attached) Mr. Breihan moved to allocate $5923.94 from Revenue Sharing <br />Entitlement Period #8 to purchase a diesel powered portable pump from Alamo <br />Iron Works of San Antonio'. Mr. Cavazos seconded the motion, which passed <br />unani.mously. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of a Resolution as follows: <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF TIlE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />APPROVING A CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS AND TEXAS A&M <br />UNIVERSITY FOR THE PROVIDING OF PLANNING ASSISTANCE TO THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS BY TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR OF THE <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS TO EXECUTE THE SAME IN AND ON BEHALF OF <br />'rHE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Hansen moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. James seconded the motion, <br />which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. John Dennison, president of Electric Power Engineers, Inc. of College <br />Station, came before the Council to report on his studies of the rates charged <br />San M!~cos retail customers by the Lower Colorado River Authority. Mr. Dennison's <br />report. is attached and made a part of these minutes. Mr. Hansen moved that, as <br />a result of the findings just presented by Mr. Dennison, the City Council notify <br />the Lower Colorado River Authority of the results of the San Marcos study and <br />request the development of a new retail rate reflecting a 13.1% decrease in the <br />rates charged during the test year of 1976; further, the Lower Colorado River <br />Authority would have 30 days within which to respond to this request and if no <br />response was received within the 30 days specified, the City Council would proceed <br />to enact rates reflecting the 13.1% decrease in the base rate. Mayor Craddock <br />seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Charles Varnell of Forrest & Cotten came before the Council with final plans on <br />the Sunset Acres Improvements project under the Connnunity Development Program. <br />Mr. Varnell stated that no major changes had been made from the 60% plans, that <br />the engineer's estimate was within the amount budgeted, and the estimated <br />completion time was one year. Mr. Breihan moved to approve the final plans and <br />to authorize the engineers to proceed with the bidding process. Mr. Hansen <br />seconded the motion.
