<br />178 <br /> <br />regular meeting, june 19, 1978 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING THAT ORDINANCE WHICH <br />ESTABLISHED NEW 1978 RATES FOR <br />ELECTRICAL UTILITIES IN THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, SAID ORDINANCE <br />BEING FILED IN VOL. 48 AT PAGE <br />151 OF THE MINUTES OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL, BY ESTABLISHING A NEW <br />EFFECTIVE DATE, AND DECLARING AN <br />EMERGENCY. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The City Attorney read the ordinance in its entirety. <br />Mr. Hyatt moved the ordinance be approved on emergency <br />on first reading. Mr. James seconded the motion which <br />was unanimously approved. <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING SECTION 3 OF THAT <br />ORDINANCE WHICH REGULATES AND <br />RESTRICTS THE LOCATION AND USE OF <br />BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES AND LAND, <br />DATED MAY 23, 1966 (VOL. 32) BY <br />CHANGING THE ZONING OF LOT 26, <br />BLOCK 1 OF THE ZACK WILLIAMSON <br />ADDITION, LOCATED AT THE CORNER <br />OF MARL TON AND BAYLOR AVENUE, <br />FROM "R-l" (SINGLE FAMILY <br />RESIDENTIAL) TO "c" (COMl'1ERCIAL). <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the ordinance be approved on second <br />reading. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion. On roll call, <br />the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: Arredondo, Breihan, Hansen, <br />Cavazos, Hyatt, Sutton <br />NAY: James <br /> <br />The Mayor read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, <br />AMENDING CHAPTER 21 OF THE CODE <br />OF ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF <br />SAN MARCOS, ENTITLED;"PUBLIC <br />SAFETY", SAID ORDINANCE BEING <br />RECORDED IN VOLUME 45, PAGE 172 <br />OF THE MINUTES OF' THE CITY COUNCIL; <br />AND ESTABLISHING AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br /> <br />Mr. Sutton moved the ordinance be approved on second <br />reading. Mr. Hyatt seconded the motion which was <br />unanimously approved. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor introduced for discussion the City's involve- <br />ment in the proposed Southwest Scenic Parkway. <br />Mr. Cavazos reported that the proposed scenic trail would <br />begin in Granbury, Texas and in San Marcos. He said the <br />City would not be financially obligated and that the first <br />federal funding for the program would be for the Young <br />Adult Conservation Corps to employ persons to clean and <br />beautify public grounds. None of the Council Members <br />opposed the San Marcos participation in the Southwest <br />Scenic Parkway. <br />
