We reviewed the basie goals and purposes of the Downtown Revitalization <br />Committee since its appointment two years ago. The Committee is dedi- <br />eated to preserve and enhanee the value of taxable property in the <br />Central Business District. <br /> <br />2. We reviewed the status of previously established goals and priorities <br />and reaffirmed the determination to complete the pilot project (North <br />side square and remainder of square). <br /> <br />3. Again, we reviewed the Central Business District Revitalization <br />priorities and voted to next give our total attention the the L.B.J. <br />Avenue from Comal to University. <br /> <br />a. Convert traffic flow from one-way to two-way. <br />b. Install planters, similar in appearance and plaeement to those <br />around square, on L.B.J. Avenue. <br />c. Installation of new street lighting in the length. of L.B.J. from <br />Comal to University, the same as around square. Also, bury all <br />utility lines that are along street, as on square. <br />d. Extension of eurbs (islands, etc.) similar to the drawings by the <br />A [, M study, to give L.B.J. the appearanee of a "People Place" <br />and at the same time "squeezefl traffic flow to a slower pace. <br /> <br />4. Subsequent meetings of the Downtown Revitalization Committee will set <br />long range plans (1, 2, 3, 4, 10 years) for San Marcos Central Business <br />District revitalization, maintenance, ete., or where are we going from <br />here! <br /> <br />S. Request for Community Development funds to be presented to the City <br />Couneil on November 28, 1977. Howard Herrin has prepared eost estitlates <br />for the work deseribed in Item 3 above. <br />
