Geiger; Robert Uhr; Alvin Langhamer; Ray Stone; <br />Stanley Hughson; Willard Lively; Gene Majors; Jerr~ Martin; <br />Melissa Millecam; Terry Roberts; Rowe Ray; and others. <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 13, 1974 were approved on motion <br />of Councilman Sutton and second of Councilman Cunningham. <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Regular Meeting held May 28, 1974 were approved on motion <br />of Councilman Sutton and second of Councilman Cunningham. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Minutes of the Special Meeting held June 6, 1974 were approved on motion <br />of Councilman Sutton and second of Councilman Cunningham. <br /> <br />Mayor Craddock read a resolution expressing the appreciation of the Council <br />to Mrs. Jack N. Stovall for her accomplishments achieved as General Chairman <br />of the San Marcos Bicentennial Commission. Mr. Breihan moved the Resolution <br />be Passed and Approved. Mr. Flores seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. <br />The Resolution is attached as a part of these minutes. <br /> <br />The Mayor read a resolution (see attached) in support of Congressman J.J. Pickle's <br />efforts to improve Amtrak station facilities in San Marcos. Mr. Cunningham <br />moved approval of the Resolution. Mr. Sutton seconded the motion, which <br />passed unanimously. By common consent, the Council requested copies of the <br />Resolution be sent to Congressman Pickle and to the National Railroad Passenger <br />Commission. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Dr. Craddock opened a Public Hearing to consider a request for a change in <br />zoning of part of Lots 10 and 11 of the West End Addition, located at 1251 <br />Belvin Street, from "R-l" to "M". Ruben Rub was present to represent the <br />applicant, Mrs. Elena B. Rice. It was noted that a petition had been received <br />from more than 20% of property owners within 200 feet of the property in <br />question in objection to the change, and that the Planning and Zoning Commission <br />had recommended denial of the request. Robert Rice, son of the applicant, was <br />present to urge the Council to grant the request. Henry S. Cruz, representing <br />the Second Mexican Baptist Church, stated that his group had no objection to the <br />zoning change. The Reverend Paul Geiger and Joe Zimmerman came before the <br />Council to state their objection to the change. The Mayor closed the hearing <br />and read the caption of an ordinance as follows: <br />
