<br />ORDER DECLARING RESULT OF CITY OFFICERS' ELECTION <br /> <br />THE STATE OF TEXAS <br /> <br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />On the 5th day of April, 1972, the City Counci I of the <br />City of San Marcos, Texas, convened in special session open <br />to the publ ic in the Counci I Room of the City Hal I with the <br />following members present, to-wit: <br /> <br />Herbert A. Yarbrough, jr., Mayor; Councilwoman Frances <br />D. Emery; Counci Imen Eddy A. Etheredge, Luciano H. <br />Flores and Ross King; and City Secretary Dorothy O. <br />Worrell; <br /> <br />and the f91 lowing absent; <br /> <br />Councilmen Guillermo DeLa Rosa and David R. Tauch, <br /> <br />constituting a quorum. <br /> <br />Councilman Etheredge introduced a resolution and order and <br />moved its adopt i on. The mot i on was seconded by Cou nc i I woman <br />Emery, and the motion carrying with it the adoption of the <br />resolution and order prevailed by the following vote: <br /> <br />AYES: Yarbrough, Emery, Etheredge, Flores and King <br /> <br />NOES: None <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The resolution is as fol lows: <br /> <br />There came on to be considered the returns of an election <br />held on the 4th day of April, 1972, for the purpose of electing <br />the hereinafter named officials, and it appearing from said <br />returns, duly and legally made, that there were cast at said <br />election 6392 val id and legal votes; that each of the candidates <br />in said election received the following votes: <br /> <br />COUNCILMAN, PLACE 4 <br /> <br />WILLIAM L. "BILL" CUNNINGHAM <br /> <br />1682 <br /> <br />FRANCES D. EMERY <br /> <br />549 <br /> <br />MRS. RUTH F. THOMAS <br /> <br />962 <br /> <br />COUNCilMAN, PLACE 5 <br /> <br />NEWMAN W. GIBBS <br /> <br />1322 <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />EDDY A ETHEREDGE <br /> <br />1873 <br /> <br />THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS: <br /> <br />That said election was duly called; that notice of said <br />election was given in accordance with law, and th~t 'said election <br />was held in accordance with law, and Wil I iam l. "Bill" Cunningham <br />and Eddy A. Etheredge were duly elected Councilmen of said City <br />and said above named parties are hereby declared duly elected to <br />said respective offices, subject to the taking of their oaths as <br />provided by the laws of the State of Texas. <br />
