Baugh; Sam Cathcart; Lamar <br />Youngblood; Ron Dailey <br /> <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. <br /> <br />Lamar Youngblood and Ron Dai ley of Ba~nes; landes, Goodman <br />and Youngblood, Architects, presented final plans for the <br />Pol ice and Courts Building. All phases of the building were <br />discussed, as Counci Imen examined the plans. Mr. Youngblood <br />pointed out the few alterations made necessary by the change <br />of site from the east to the west side of the San Marcos River. <br />He estimated that the approximate cost of the building would <br />be $178,896.00. <br /> <br />Mr. Yarbrough moved approval of the final plans, as presented <br />by the a~chitects. Dr. Tauch seconded the motion. <br /> <br />The Mayor recognized Sam Cathcart, local manager of the United <br />Gas Company. He questioned the proposed total use of electricity <br />in the building. He said he real ized he was late in proposing <br />the use of gas for certain facil ities, but stated operation <br />would be 40% less. <br /> <br />Mr. Youngblood said their consulting engineer had recommended <br />the use of electricity, citing the low rates of LCRA as having <br />influenced the decision. <br /> <br />Mr. Youngblood said it would be the Council's decision,if the <br />members wished the arch i tects to redes i gn the bu i I ding. It <br />would increase the cost about $5,000 and take time, a vital <br />factor in getting funding for the project. <br /> <br />The relative merits of the two fuels were discussed. Dr. Tauch <br />asked if the time factor would affect the contractors' bids, <br />Mr. Youngblood answered in the affirmative. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The question being called for, the following vote was recorded: <br /> <br />AYE: <br />NAY: <br /> <br />DeLa Rosa, Etheredge, Flores, King, Tauch, Yarbrough <br />None <br /> <br />The Mayor declared the motion carried. <br />
