<br />AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF
<br />CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN
<br />MARCOS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN
<br />TERRITORY CONSISTING OF APPROXIMATELY NINE
<br />ACRES OF LAND, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES AD-
<br />JACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY
<br />LIMITS OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS

<br />WHEREAS, a public hearing before the City Council of the City
<br />
<br />of San Marcos, Texas, where all interested persons were provided
<br />
<br />with an opportunity to be heard on the proposed annexation of the
<br />
<br />following described property:
<br />
<br />Approximately 9 acres, described by metes and bounds
<br />in "Exhibit A", attached herewith
<br />
<br />was held on the 24th day of August, 1970, which date is not
<br />
<br />more than twenty nor less than ten days prIDor to the institution
<br />
<br />of proceedings; and,
<br />
<br />I

<br />WHEREAS, notice of such public hearing was published in a
<br />newspaper having general circulation in the City of San Marcos,
<br />Texas, and in the above described territory, on the 13th day of
<br />August, 1970, which date is not more than' twenty nor less than
<br />ten days prior to the date of such public hearing; ~nd,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the total corporate area of the City of San Marcos, Texas,
<br />on the first day of January, 1970, was approximately 4664 acres; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the population of the ~,i.1:.y of San Marcos is ~stimated
<br />at 18,556 inhabitants; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the above described territory lies within the extra-
<br />ter~itorial Jurisdiction of the City of San Marcos, Texas; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the above described territory lies adjacent to and
<br />adjoins the City of San Marcos, Texas; and,
<br />
<br />WHEREAS, the above described territo~y contains approximately
<br />nine acres;
<br />
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
<br />CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS:

<br />SECTION 1. The following described land and territory lying
<br />adjacent to and adjoining the City of San Marcos, Texas, is hereby
<br />added and annexed to the City of San Marcos, Texas, and said terri-
<br />toey hereinafter described shall hereafter be included within the
<br />boundary limits of the City of San Marcos, Texas, and the present
<br />boundary limits of such city, at the various points contiguous to
<br />the area hereinafter described are altered and amended so as to
<br />include said area within the corporate limits of the City of
<br />San Marcos, Texas, to wit:
