<br />regular meeting, january 25, 1971 <br /> <br />page two <br /> <br />Frank Davidson came before the Council to express <br />support for the location in the San Marcos area of a <br />proposed regional airport. The Mayor said the proposal <br />had not passed beyond the talkDng stage, and that repre- <br />sentatives of the City would meet with other area dele- <br />gations to discuss the matter further, on January 29. <br />Mr, Smith promised to keep the public informed on any <br />developments. <br /> <br />Mr. Zavesky opened discussion on the one-way traffic <br />patterns initiated by the City on January 3, The Mayor <br />asked the City Manager to request Traffic En.ineer Walter <br />Klapproth to check traffic during peak hours on Colorado <br />Street, as affected by one-way streets, <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />The Mayor read a progress report from Urban Renewal, which <br />is attached as a part of the Minutes. <br /> <br />The Mayor reported he had received 61 responses to the pro- <br />posal that the City establish a recycling plant, as pro- <br />moted through the columns of The San Marcos Record. <br /> <br />The City Manager reported that Tom G. Oliver, executor of <br />the Paul Rogers Estate, that a utility easement between <br />Lots 2 & 3, Block C, Unit 7 of Spring Lake Hills Estates, <br />be abandoned. City utilities were brought into Unit 1 <br />through another route, and the easement was not used. <br />Mr. Zavesky moved that abandonment of the easement be aubhbr- <br />izedby the Council, Mr. Flores seconded the motion, ~hich <br />passed unanimously. <br /> <br />Mr. Bean reported that SWTSU had requested that the City <br />put a. 20-mile speed zone on Guadalupe from Concho to <br />Mathews, and on LBJ Drive from Concho to Olmos Drive, <br />Mr. Zavesky moved that the request be granted.
