RECESSED REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SAN MARCOS, TEXAS, APRIL 7'71 Present: Mayor Hollis W. Smith Councilmen: Luciano H. Flores Ross King Herbert A, Yarbrough, Jr. Jerry Zavesky I City Secretary Dorothy O. Worrell The Mayor called the meeting to order at 2:00 p.m., for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the April 6, 1971 City Officers' Election. Council ascertained officially that a run-off election for Place 5 must be held. The Charter requiring that a run-off election be called for the fourth Tuesday following the regular election, the Mayor was authorized to order the Election for May 4, 1971. The Order is attached and made a part of the Minutes. In the process of checking returns reported by the Presiding Judges of the seven precincts, it was found that two pages of the poll list for Precinct 14 were missing, The Judge could not be reached, I The Council recessed until 8 a.m., April 8, at which time the Canvass would be completed. 1H~1*"1(-1*"*~~1*"** The Council reconvened in recessed regular session at 8 a.m., Thursday, April 8, 1971, with all members and the City Secretary present. The City Secretary gave the Council the missing sheets from the poll list of Precinct 14, obtained from the Presiwing Judge. She explained that the Judge had inadvertently kept all copies of two pages of the list in his envelope, and sent the Council all copies of the other two pages. The Canvass completed, Mr, Flores introduced a Resolution and Order certifying the April 6 Election, and moved their adoption, Mr. Yarbrough seconded the motion, which passed unanimously.
